The basilisk is an example of one of nature’s most foul creations, a beast so toxic and vile that even those who stand near it or look at it often do not live to tell the tale. Due to its petrifying gaze, the basilisk was forced to evolve over time, developing a powerful acid and poison within its saliva, allowing it to feast
on the petrified flesh of prey who failed to avert their eyes. Its scales are also known to be coated in this deadly concoction, causing it to leave a trail of acidic slime so noxious that wild creatures are known to flee just from the scent, as this monstrosity burns away the forest it calls home just by walking.
