My first birdhouse of 2024, The Saloon!
Cute details like bullet holes on the front and the wagon wheel on the porch are there to add more character to this little saloon.
The design is very simple and easy to print/assemble. Most caracteristics of the precedent birdhouses are there, but there's a few minor differences.
I have used the same features you can find on the last birdhouse of 2023 (The surf shop) which are:
-100% support free
-Detailed and easy instructions in the form of exploded views.
-Individual parts for a nice, colorful print without the need of a special printer.
-Color Coded filenames for references and grouping parts together.
-Printable on a small printer (180x180) like the Prusa Mini.
-Also printable on a bigger printer with the instructions below.
-Complete 3mf files for the Bambulab enthusiasts
THINGS ADDED TO THE BIRDHOUSE DESIGNS:
-Draining holes at the back
-Rear ventilation hole, near the roof.
-You can use the same support now with two different sizes of birdhouses! Yep you read correctly! Two sizes, one support. Thanks to the multiple mounting holes on the bottom door.
SETTINGS: The only thing i strongly recommend is to put at least 4 walls on the parts (7 for the rear stand) and to put a brim on the saloon main part. Its a huge part, and you may have noticed on the picture, i had a bit of warping in the front near the corners. So use a brim to prevent any lifting.
SCALE: If you use the birdhouse in its actual size (Prusa mini size), you just print all the stuff as it is.
If you want a bigger birdhouse, print everything at 133%, EXCEPT FOR THE SUPPORT (part called REAR STAND). Keep it as it is.
You will notice two patterns of mounting holes on the bottom door. The smaller pattern, in the middle, will give the exact same pattern/hole sizes as the big one once it is scaled at 133%. So this is where you're gonna mount your support once the bigger birdhouse is done. No need for a bigger support, so both models can be installed on the same type of support.
The only thing: You will have to replace the (4x) M3x6mm screws to hold the door in place with (4x) M4x8mm instead.
The screws to mount the support on the door will stay the same (M4x10 OR 12mm), same has we use usually.
INFO REGARDING MULTICOLOR PARTS:
Some parts of this project have more than one color. YOU DON'T NEED A MULTICOLOR PRINTER! They ALL can be printed with simple color changes on any regular printer. The color are indicated in the file names.
Again, If you are not familiar with color changes, don't be shy to send me a message. I will be pleased to help you as usual. Its very easy to do, and you don't need a special printer to do that.
REMEMBER: Always follow the instructions and make dry fit checks (without glue) to see how the parts are glued together.
Have fun my friends and Happy Printing!!!
