3D model description

** ATTENTION**: I have reworked the design, newest files are available here. The new design is not tested yet. Topic which created the need of rework: One Person had problems, after discussion it seems that depending on the props used the prop wash leads to pitch instability. This (should) be gone now. As goody a Tailsitter-Stand was added :)

Open the included m3f-file with "3d builder" (Microsoft Store, free) to get a 3d model of the whole design for overview :)

Features:

  • Build very robust but still lightweight

  • Easy repairs (no glue needed)

  • No supports needed

  • All sorts of materials possible (LW-PLA, PLA, PETG, ...)

  • Whole test print ~350g LW-PLA + some PETG

  • Tailsitter option

  • Grips for easy throwing

  • Antenna mounts for 2.4g, 5.8g

  • Many optional parts to fit the design to your needs, this is also where the number of files included comes from. The hole fusulage can be printed in 6 parts only!

Specs:

  • Compact

  • Twin tractor (5-7" props)

  • 12x12mm / 16x16mm motor mounts

  • Differential trust instead of rudder

  • 3x 12mm (=9g) servos

Airfoils:

ALL parts of the craft are airfoils, Fusulage is a Wingroot airfoil, inner wing is a flying wing airfoil with reflex, outer wing is a high lift Clark-Z Airfoil.

Winglets:

Three different versions to choose from. Two versions are screwed, one is glued.

Carbon spars:

6mm carbon tubes, less than 500mm each (cheap). Rear spar is used as hinge for the ailerons and as lock for the wing parts.

Only after removal of this rear spar the wing parts will come off......safe, easy to print and resilient imo

Elevator uses a 2mm carbon rod as hinge, may be replaced with 1.75mm filament.

Glue:

Not necessary! Only parts which I would glue together are the hatches

Internal Mounts:

Mounts can be placed where YOU want, they all share the pattern in the fusulage

  • VTX: Nose mount for 20x20 and 25.5x25.5mm

  • FC: Universal mount with 16x16, 20x20, 25.5x25.5 and 30.5x30.5mm pattern

  • Battery: Universal mount for straps up to 25mm width

  • Nose mount: Only fits in the Nose, maximum airflow

My Material selection referring to the pictures in this page:

  • Light blue parts:LW-PLA

  • All others: PETG

Be aware, that all material are usable, but the heavier your build is, the bigger the battery you will need to hit CG (as usual for all wings). Originally designed for LW-PLA+PETG with 4x18650 - 8x18650 battery in mind.

Serveral hundred hours were spend to create this, please consider a small donation if you think I earned it and post pictures of your builds :)

Changelog:

05.04.24: Rework for topic mentioned above completed

05.03.24: Fus 3+4 slightly optimized for drag reduction

3D printing settings

  • Needed build volume: 235x235x220mm

  • All parts: 0.4 Nozzle, 1 Wall, 3 Top/Bottum, Gyroid/Cubic Infill 2-4%, No Supports needed

  • LW-PLA, PETG, PLA....everything possible :)

(My builds so far used LW-PLA for the main body and PETG for the control surfaces and other parts)
