During the fighting of Operation BULLDOG, Danai piloted a BNC-5S Banshee, one of the few Canopian 'Mechs built with advanced technology. Not long after her death and the conclusion of Operation BULLDOG, Katherine Steiner Davion honored her sacrifice in a show of solidarity with the Centrellas by directing Defiance Industries to produce a limited run of a direct variant of the assault mech Danai had used.

It was also a classic show of one-upsmanship on Katherine's part as Danai hat taken a Falconer provided by her brother Victor just prior to Centrella's death on Strana Mechty.

The 5SD's Edasich 380 extralight engine pushes the Banshee to a decent 64kph. Fifteen and a half tons of ferro fibrous is the maximum rating for the 90 ton chassis.

The entire loadout has been pulled from the 5S in the creation of the 5SD. In place of the Gauss Rifle, a mammoth Defiance Thunder Ultra AC-20 is now mounted. Four tons of ammunition are loaded into CASE modules in the left torso along with the ammunition for a pair of Longfire V LRM launchers.

The weapons array is rounded out with a quartet of medium pulse lasers tandem- loaded into vambrace mounts on the left and right forearms.

Considered a prestige mech, several copies of the chassis have been sent to various units in the Arcturan and Commonwealth Guards.
