Description

Overview:

Introducing the 'Poop Grinder': A 3D-printed marvel designed for sustainability. Modeled after industrial shredders, it transforms filament purges (poops) into reusable resources. With precision blades and a crank handle, it symbolizes recycling in the 3D printing community. While the PLA may not grind, it's a powerful statement on waste reduction and innovation. Join us in revolutionizing sustainability, one poop at a time.

Printing:

Since I couldn't upload a .3mf created by orcaslicer, here are some tips for printing:

Quantities

Body x1

Door x1

Crank x1

NoPoop x1

GearShaft x2

GearCap x2

Blade x8

Support
I like to add supports in three places:
1. The crank (for the handle and the pegs)

2. The chute door (for the pegs)

3. The chute opening on the main body (I tried without support, and it did alright, but it's better with support)

Plates

I have an AMS and was able to print everything but the logo on the same plate. I manually arranged parts of the same color close together, then selected them and grouped them with the “Assemble” option. After that, I changed the print sequence to “By Object”, and used the auto-arrange to correctly place them on the plate.

The logo requires its own plate because of the color changes at specific layers.

Logo

The “no poop” logo was created using HueForge, which comes with the following instructions:

Print at 100% infill with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.16mm

Filaments Used:
PLA BambuLab Basic Black Transmission Distance: 0.6
PLA BambuLab Basic Red Transmission Distance: 5
PLA BambuLab Basic Jade White Transmission Distance: 5

Swap Instructions:
    Start with Black
At layer #9 (0.8mm) swap to Red
At layer #19 (1.6mm) swap to Jade White for the rest.

Because none of the colors really mix to create other shades, it should be okay to use pretty much any brand of red, black, and white.

Assembly:

Assembly is pretty straightforward:
-Use the chute opening to squeeze the door pins into their corresponding holes
-Insert a gear shaft through one of the corresponding holes on the flat side of the body and push through four blades while holding them in the opening. (This part of assembly is a little tricky for big hands)

-Place and glue a gear cap on the other end of the gear shaft

-Repeat the insertion for the other gear shaft, but turn the blades the opposite way of how they are on the first gear shaft. This allows for them to pass by each other without colliding.

-Align the gears to each other so that the blades meet as close to the tips as possible when they turn past each other. (This creates the best chance for your poop to pass through to the chamber.

-Place and glue the other gear cap on the other end of the second gear shaft

-Insert the gear pegs into the holes on one of the gears. (For me, this was tight enough to not need glue, but feel free to glue it.)

-Glue the No Poop icon in the circular indent on the front of the grinder.
