Okie Dokie!
Designed to hold a wide variety of aroma pads, including any standard sized Cotton Rounds which can be found just about anywhere in the makeup section. I use “premium” woven cotton rounds with essential oils, super cheap, work great and they're easily obtainable.
Cautionary note: Since this will be left in your car, take note that PLA could potentially warp over time due to the heat. Use your own discretion when choosing which filament to use. PETG, ABS, ASA would withstand high temps much better.
Outer Dimensions:
Approx. 87mm (3.43")
Internal Dimensions:
60mm (2.36") diameter
4mm (0.16") thick
~Print Profiles~
Shaded: The look of this will vary depending on your specific filaments. It is designed specifically for White, Black, Blue and Yellow/Gold and prints at 0.08mm layer heights to blend colors slightly. I would suggest printing only the smaller half first to see if it will look good before printing the rest.
The filaments I used in my photos are:
Elegoo Rapid PLA+ White
Elegoo Rapid PLA+ Black
Jayo Silk Blue
Jayo Silk Gold
Unshaded: Easier and faster to print at 0.2mm layer heights and does not rely on blending colors, but it uses 5 colors for optimal results.
Extra profiles are available in the raw downloads for Orca slicer. These profiles will let you easily customize the number cutout on the uniform. To change it, open the orca profile in Orca Slicer > Right-Click on the numbers > Edit Text.
You should see this box come up:
Simply change the number here and press Enter. Do this for both halves. You can also adjust the size here if needed.
~Assembly Instructions~
Before assembling, go over the inner surface and use a razor or some sandpaper to smooth out any rough areas. The inside needs to be as smooth as possible to prevent the inserts from getting snagged.
Assembly is pretty straightforward, just be sure you put the hinge in place before pressing the 2 halves together. Once it is assembled, it may be difficult to take apart without breaking one of the connections. So don't forget to smooth out the inner surface first. The hand should stay in place on it's own, but if it's loose, use a couple drops of glue.
For the inserts, there's no right or wrong way to do it. You can use cotton rounds like I do, or pads specifically marketed as aroma pads. Essential oils work great for the scent, I use 8-10 drops and it's perfect for me, but you could use more or less. Mine has been in my car for a week now, and it still smells great.
