Anycubic Kobra 2 Toolhead for Sovol SV06 SV06 Plus +

To be honest, the original SV06 toolheat is bad. Heatcreep issues, loud retraction noise, bad part cooling, inserting the filament is tricky, and so on. But you can get the Anycubic Kobra 2 Toolhead for about 30 bugs on AliExpress & co and I have to say it is pretty good! Id does not feature a high temp hotend tho, but it has a long heating zone with volcano nozzle and a biiiiiiig 5020 radial part cooling fan with double sided ducts. So, I dove into the project and designed this x-gantry for the new extruder and hotend, and made a cool fairing asswell. I printed the gantry with CF reinforced PETG filament for some extra ridgidity, but I think standard PETG should do the job just fine. The fairing is printed in standard PETG, and I cut the needed M3 threads with a thead cutter. You can also widen the holes in the .step and use thread inserts.

Sadly anycubic uses a different flat cable connector, and also has some sort of electronics on the toolhead pcb, so you'll need to remove the pcb, remove the connector and use standalone connectors or directly solder the toolhead components to the cable.

You dont need to disassemble the x axis for this upgrade. It just clicks over the rods and the linear bearings slide in from the sides. However you need to flip the spin direction of the x-motor by switching the two phase pairs on the motor connector or via software, because the ends of the belt are low now.

The inductive proximity sensor of the Kobra toolhead wont work with the sv06 mainboard, because it has a different polarity and open/close behavior than the original sovol sensor. You wont need that sensor or the mount. But, you'll need to remove the black plastic from the original sovol sensor to be able to mount it in the new fairing. I carefully opened the plastic mantle with a sharp exactor knife. When mounting the sensor into the fairing, you need to rotate it to where the cable comes out as flush as possible with the wall, bause the bigger sovol sensor has limited space to fit beside and behind the anycubic extruder. After installation you need to change the probe offsets slightly.

I wanted to recreate the original part fan and duct mounting insode the fairing with the two posts, but I had trouble finding the right locations so in this version it wont work. I simply removed the two posts and glues the fan and duct in place with some drops of hot glue. If you want to change the file and get the locations right go for it and keep me up to date if it works!

ATTENTION! With the higher toolhead you will not be able to to the automatic Z tramming because it will run the extruder motor into the top beam.
