Bose QC35 Removable External Boom Mic Attachment

Bose's QC35's are a popular over-ear headphone with active noise cancelling. But the external microphones tend to pick up a lot of ambient noise when using it for calls and the other end cannot hear you properly.

This clip-on boom-mic attachment helps to resolve that issue, and serves a very similar effect to cupping your hand over the headphone so the other side can hear you better.

I've tested this by playing a loud "ambient noise" over the speaker in an enclosed room to simulate very loud external noise, and making a call using the boom mic. The extra clarity created from the boom microphone has helped the QC35 differentiate between my voice and ambient noise, and even filtered out the ambient noise on the call, whilst my voice is crystal clear to the other caller.

The boom mic is also clip-on detachable so it can be easily stored away when not in use.

A resin-3D printer was used to print my boom mic. Both supported and unsupported versions are included in the STL. I have not tested this on an FDM. The wall thickness of the model is 0.5mm which is theoretically possible to be printed with a 0.4mm FDM extruder nozzle but will possibly require some skills and post-processing to ensure the clip is a perfect, tight fit.
