3D model description

The filament runout sensor on the C10 V3 is 90Β° to the bed. The resulting angle puts a strain on the filament and it will occasionally break. This bracket better aligns the sensor inlet to the spool.

Another issue with the C10 V3 is the plastic spool holder. The spool does not rotate cleanly but jerks now and then which can leave artifacts in the print.

The solution is a spool holder with bearings. I used cheap skate bearings from Amazon and a bolt that attaches to the stock metal stand.

It is 45mm in diameter and 70mm long where the spool rides. Use an 8mm X 100mm bolt, 2 nuts, and two fender washers.

Insert the bearings and glue the spool holder together. If the bearings don't stay in place on their own, tack them in with a drop of CA.

Assemble the bolt through the bearings and inside spool plate. Put on a nut just snug so the spool turns freely, then a fender washer and a printed washer. Run it through the metal bracket, put on the other printed washer, fender washer and nut.

One printed washer is flat on both sides, and one has a raised boss to align with the large hole in the metal bracket. It can go on either side. Keep everything in place while tightening. Check again that the spool turns freely (not too freely, a little tension to keep from free-wheeling).

A standard skate bearing is 8 X 22 X 7mm, plus an additional ~ .3mm to .5mm for clearance.

3D printing settings

Any 3D printer, regular PLA. For this project I used a Creality C10 V3, Prusa Slicer, 20% infill and default Prusa settings for the C10 V3.
