Bofors 80mm Model 29/38M AA gun – 28 mm stl pack
The Swedish Bofors company is famous for their 40mm AA gun, a weapon system that is approaching its centennial of continuous service worldwide. There is, however, far more to Bofors than that one gun. In the interwar period, Bofors served as almost a “boutique” weapons manufacturer, designing and building small batches of sophisticated artillery pieces for other nations. This effort was assisted by the hidden hand of Germany’s armament firms, who were then prohibited from actively producing their own heavy weapons, so sent their designers abroad to hone their skills.
One such interwar weapon system was the Bofors Model 29/38M AA gun, which was produced as both a 75mm and 80mm model. It features a crucifix platform and was a dual-purpose gun. It was purchased by Argentina, China, the Dutch East Indies. Finland, Greece, Hungary, Persia, and Thailand.
This design was further developed and produced in the thousands as the ubiquitous Flak 18/36 88 mm gun.
In Bolt Action it is currently only recognized in the Hungarian Army listing, but rightly belongs in the Dutch KNIL listing, as there is ample photographic evidence of it being in use in the Dutch East Indies in 1941.
This .stl pack is primarily intended for resin printing. It can be printed in FDM, but will require fine settings, slow speed, and full supports.
The stl pack includes the main platform, the two crucifix arms, the four support pads for the platform, the gun cradle and barrel. Also, there is an optional 130mm round base with recesses for four 25mm based crew figures. This last piece prints quickly on a coarse setting in FDM. It is not required, but I find it helps prevent issued in storage and transporting your model.
