3D model description

If you have made one of those DIY dust collection cyclones for your woodworking shop, you may have noticed that when the hose get blocked, the vacuum inside the bucket is so strong that the bucket tries to implode.

I've seen some videos on YouTube where they made a very rudimental valve with a tin lid that drops inside the bucket. It works but I didn't want to have to open the bucket and fish the lid out every time. So, I've designed this vacuum relief (or suction release) valve to address that problem.

The concept is that the spring keeps the valve closed. When the vacuum inside the bucket is too strong, the spring gives in and the valve opens. And as soon as you remove the blockage or switch the shop vac off, the valve closes again. Also using a simple nut and bolt to hold the spring in place, allow you to register it as tight or as loose as you need.
