Dewalt Sander Rotating Shop Vac Adapter

Ultra-compact, Rotating & Locking dust port adapter to connect the dust port on a DeWalt Random Orbital Sander (e.g., DCW210B) with a 2.5" or 1.25" Ridgid store vac hose.

I have uploaded 4 versions:

• Ridgid-2.25inOD**: Friction fits OVER a standard Ridgid 2.5" hose-end adapter. Locking tab matches the locking hook on the hose-end adapter

• Ridgid-2.25inID+HoseThread: The adapter can either:

  (1) Friction fit INSIDE the end of a Ridgid hose or

  (2) Screw DIRECTLY over the threads of a 2" (orange-black) Ridgid Pro-Grade Hose, in place of the standard screw-in end fitting

• Ridgid-1.25inOD**: Friction fits OVER a standard Ridgid 1.25" hose-end adapter.

• DeWalt-1.75inOD**: Friction fits OVER a standard DeWalt 1.75" hose end adapter

Note that the if you use the 2nd version to THREAD OVER the hose and REPLACE the existing hose-end connector, you end up with an ultra-compact, more ridged, and more maneuverable connection to the ShopVac. Indeed, the connection extends only 40mm beyond the sander dust port meaning that the hose starts flexing 40mm beyond the port (which probably saves a foot of connectors relative to using the multiple proprietary Dewalt connectors plus Ridgid end-connector that this replaces.

Note that all versions:

• Securely fit the proprietary DeWalt twist-locking dust port

• Allow for free rotation of the tool relative to the hose

While the locking dust port on the Dewalt ROS is sturdy and well-designed, it suffers from several faults if one seeks to purchase a commercial adapter for a non-Dewalt store vac brand:

• The design is proprietary

• Multiple adapters are required to connect to many common (but non-Dewalt) store vacs (e.g., Ridgid) - which makes the connection long and unwieldily hanging off the end of the ROS

• The adapters are expensive (the DWV9000 root adapter alone costs ~$28 and you often need at least 2)

• It is often not even clear which adapter(s) to use

My design addresses the above problems while providing the following benefits

• Preserves the strength and durability of the 3-ball bearing locking mechanism

• Adds a 360 degree rotating sleeve

• Is very compact (at most 3" long in total with the part extending beyond the ROS dust port extending only 30 or 40mm)

• Can be adopted to other Shop Vac models (let me know the dimensions needed and I can provide an alternative)

• Prints as a single integrated adapter (combining 3 components) so no assembly or separate printing is required (other than slotting in 3 1/4" ball bearings mid-print)
