3D model description

These jars are based on the canopic jars used by ancient Egyptians to store and protect the mummified organs of the dead. The four sons of Horus, depicted on the lids, are jackal-headed Duamutef who protects the stomach, baboon-headed Hapi who protects the lungs, human-headed Imsety who protects the liver, and falcon-headed Qebehsenuef who protects the intestines.

The names of the gods are indented into the inside of the lids and the jar bases, along with the CDT rabbit logo. The solid lids do not have the names on them (available upon request).

3D printing settings

Jars are roughly 159 mm high by 122 wide by 122 long.

Lids vary in size and are roughly 7 - 8 mm high by 110 - 120 wide by 102 - 108 long.

Notes on the solid lids: Lids named solid 01 have a cylindrical extrusion on the bottom. This version is simpler to print, but will leave a gap between the top of the jar and the bottom of the lid.
Lids named solid 02 have an indent in the bottom. This version will be more difficult to remove traditional supports from, but the bottom of the lid should sit flush with the top of the jar.

Scaling down the print size is possible using the solid lids found in the solid lids.zip file. The lids included in the canopic jars.zip file have thin walls, and scaling these down will create holes in the print.

Print time on a Prusa i3 MK2S, using a layer height of 0.15 mm and a 5% infill, is about 16 hours per jar and 6 hours per lid.

Printing without supports is possible with the files in the canopic jars.zip. The solid lids will need support, especially the files ending in 01.
