Capra R20 - RC Racer / Glider

This was a french racer planned for the Deutsch de la Meurthe Cup Race - 1939. Never finished or flown due to the war and also motor issues (Flat 12 cyl - Bรฉarn).

Little information about this racer but this blog from Jacques Moulin relates his short story.

  • Wing span 830mm
  • Lenght ~600mm
  • FAD18 airfoil from Franck Aguerre (designed for 60" gliders and F3F pitcheron like the Hypnosys2)
  • or TP60J airfoil which is better for aerobatics / inverted flight.
  • CG 41mm, rear limit 43mm on main carbon rod.
  • Pitcheron setup
  • Whole plane is designed/predicted using PredimRC

Requires :

  • Two servos : Hyperion DS09, Corona DS843MG or Graupner DES 427 BB
  • Lipo 3S-600mAh / 3S-850mAh
  • Motor 1806-2300Kv + 20A controller + 5x4prop or similar setup
  • Tiny 4ch receiver
  • Main carbon rod diam. 6mm - 240mm long
  • 2mm balsa for elevator
  • Small parts (pvc tube 2/1mm, steel rod diam 2mm, magnets diam. 4mm, two ball joint...)

Weight

  • Wing : ~51g each wing
  • Fuselage parts : ~85g
  • RTF weight : around 375g with 3S -850mAh

RC settings

  • Delta mixer
  • Elevator function: +/-8mm (measured at trailing edge / wing root)
  • Aileron function: +/-5mm
  • 4mm holes for magnets set the wing neutral position

3D printing settings

  • Around 200g of PLA+ (used recycled Zakata 3D850 for wings)
  • Printer height max 200mm.
  • No support required, just some brim.
  • Fuselage : Layer thickness 0.2mm - One 0.4mm wall (Will be lowered to 0.36mm for part3/part4)
  • Wing : Layer 0.2mm and line width 0.35mm.
