3D model description

I wanted to better filter my wood dust during my work so as not to saturate my vacuum cleaner.

I already have a cyclone system that recovers 95% of my chips that I designed and printed in 3D a few weeks ago but the small fine dust was still ending up in the filter of my vacuum cleaner.

So I modelled this additional filter that I connect between the vacuum cleaner and the main cyclone recuperator.

For the moment I'm very satisfied with it even if I had to put my wood projects on hold for a while (confinement).

The operating principle is that of a multi-stage cyclonic vacuum cleaner.

Suction is through the top central mouthpiece. The exhaust air comes in through the side inlet (red arrow in the picture).

The heaviest sucked-in particles fall directly to the bottom of the tank in blue in the design picture.

Particles of average mass are sucked towards the central cone and fall to the bottom of the blue tank in a small, separate, watertight tank (see yellow arrow on one of the photos).

And if there are still light particles (fine dust) in the exhaust air, these are transported to eight small cones (see blue arrow on one of the photos) where the suction is less since the air flow is divided by eight and they fall into the small central tank.

The green arrow represents the air discharged of particles that goes to the vacuum cleaner.

Efficiency is improved by sticking a mosquito net around the large red cone.

Assembled dimensions: diameter 26cm - height 48cm

3D printing settings

Printing without any support (they are integrated into the design). Cyclonic filter in 3 parts (blue, yellow and red in the design photo).

The red cone and the yellow tank top are printed upside down on the printer platen.
