3D model description

We love snorkeling in the Aegean sea and marvel at the majesty and beauty of the Jellyfish [Medusa in Greek] when we see one. This design is an homage to these amazing other worldly creatures. Special attention has been made within this design to create the lighting effect you can see in the pictures.

The transparent PLA has been printed slower at 40mm/s for all walls to ensure a consistently translucent finish. An internal diffuser has been printed with a satin PLA and the fuzzy skin feature to both let light through and reflect it towards the tentacles in the base.

This product contains 3 different parts [Cap, Base + Internal Diffuser], it's very easy to assemble and the big tentacles have channels to hide the electrical cable.

The materials we used were Natural PLA and Satin Salmon PLA from Real Filament. However don't hesitate to play around with different colours and combinations as you could get really interesting lighting results.

This product has been designed for an E27 lampholder [40mm Diameter] if you can't find one of those let us know and we can supply you with an adapter plate/alter the design.

We have tested this product for over a month with a 5W light bulb and there has been no deformation of the PLA. If you use PLA we wouldn't recommend going much higher than this because of the mostly enclosed cap design. We think a colour changing light bulb would look great!

To print this design we used an Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer and the model in the photos is printed with 0.6 mm nozzle [you can also use a 0.4mm].

No support needed [custom breakaway support designed into the
Jellyfish_Cap STL file].

8mm Brim for Jellyfish_Cap + Jellyfish_Base STL files not needed for Jellyfish_Internal Diffuser.

To remove the brim use a sharp knife and file or sand back the brim to the edge of the Jellyfish_Cap + Jellyfish_Base models.
