Happy Birthday Hanging Sign

Happy Birthday Hanging Sign designed for my Hanging Holder Hook (linked below), but it could be easily hung on a wall or a bulletin board too. The cake-like graphic text is sure to bring smiles. My mother and daughter share a birthday month and it was fun to make these for them.

The back and the text are two separate models and could be printed using single extrusion with a filament swap. If the filament colors do not have a high contrast, I recommend printing the outline of the letters as well. See notes below in 3D Printing Settings.

The back model is approximately 179 x 221 x 1 mm. The text is also 1 mm thick. I printed with 0.25 mm layer height and enough top and bottom solid layers to make it effectively 100% infill.

To make the outline, I made another copy of the text model and raised it 1 mm in the z-direction. I then scaled it (non-uniformly) in the z-direction to match the layer height (in my case, 0.25 mm). For that model, I set it to have 1 outline/perimeter shell, 0 top layers, 0 bottom layers, and 0% infill.

Photos included of first print without an outline and the second print with the outline. An outline probably wouldn’t be needed if a dark color is used for the background and a light color used for the text. My daughter chose the pink and yellow combination for hers and adding the outline helped a lot.
