The Carew Tower is a 574ft (175m) tall building in Cincinnati, Ohio. The towering art deco skyscraper, completed in 1930, was designed by W.W. Ahlschlager & Associates and Delano & Aldrich. This highrise was the tallest building in Cincinnati for almost 80 years and was once one of the tallest buildings outside New York City. The Carew Tower is the centerpiece of a large complex in downtown Cincinnati that included a namesake Mabley & Carew department store, theater, offices, and hotel. It was a pioneer of the city within a city, a concept that would later define places like New York's Rockefeller Center.
