3D model description

Dear HEVO and Zesty Nimble communitie,

Here you find my mount design for the HEVO printer. My design includes the possibilitie to mount a E3D hotend (J-Head etc.) as V6 or Volcano and use it as bowden or with a Nimble extruder from Zesty.

By designing the mount I was influenced by my Prusa i3 MK3. It was very important for me to have a silent printer but without performance limitations, you know what I talk about … 30 mm fan for the hotend. The original part cooling design wasn’t that efficient, because of the airflow direction and therefore exist many different designs. I’m also an owner of the Nimble extruder build by Zesty and therefore there was a need for a mounting point.

So the project was clearly defined!

The mount can be disassembled by the two screws in front and the one off the Nimbel (if you’re using it) or change the mount to another, like the standard HEVO hotend mount.

I'm using a Duet IR-probe. There are two files; one is for the E3D V6 and the other for the Volcano. The mount has also two files for the front, V6 and Volcano.

Feel free to design alternative mounts for different probes.

*because of the Prusa 'form factor' you are free to mount their part cooling fan and shroud (also the newest version with 45° angle)

Informations:

  • You’ll lose 1 mm in the height if you change the mount from the standard one
  • If you’re using a double Z-axis it could be, that you lose build space in the X direction, because of the probe and the part cooling fan (see pictures)
  • You’ll gain 1,75 mm in the Y direction
  • Check the space on the left side, if you use the double Z-axis (hotend fan)
  • The holes for the M3 insert and the location pins should be drilled correct because of tolerance issues due the printing process
  • with my mount you’ll only need two of the stainless steel cylindrical location pins

What you’ll need for the assembling:

  • 4x square nut M3
  • 2x M3 x 25
  • 4x M3 x 16 (for hotend fan)
  • 2x M3 x 20 (for the part cooling fan)
  • 1x M3 hexagon nut (for the part cooling fan)
  • 2x M3 x 8 (endstop)
  • 2x M3 x 20 (probe mount)
  • 2x M3 washer (probe mount)
  • 2x M2,5 x 6 (for the IR probe)
  • 1x M3 insert (use them from the original HEVO BOM) If you are using a Nimble Extruder you’ll also need two more square nuts.

The newest design improvements to the prusa extruder body will also be added (in the next months).

Print, share, remix and have fun with it!
