3D model description

Background
I wanted to update the look of my headlights to be more unique, and didn't like the look of many aftermarket alternatives. So I decided to take my stock headlights apart to customize them myself. When deciding on the double halos look, there was no easy way to mount the inner rings so I designed these halo mounts just for that purpose.

Compatibility
These parts Works for any stock BK1 Genesis Coupe headlights (2009-2012). I used 80mm Profile Prism RGB Halos for all four rings. The outer rings were mounted to the existing projector housing, and the inner rings were mounted to these 3D printed halo mounts.

Installation
After the halo mounts have been made, taking apart headlights can be a bit tricky, I used this tutorial to learn how to DIY. Being careful while putting the headlights back together is key. Once the headlights are put together, the extra halo wires can be routed into the engine bay to whichever controller you are using.

Longevity
I first printed and installed these in October 2021. Since then, the mounts have shown no signs of warping and the interior of the headlights are still just as clear as when I put everything in.

3D printing settings

Material
ProtoPasta HTPLA was used for these parts due to its high temperature resistance properties and colour. Any high temperature material should be okay.

Print Settings
Printed these with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer heights at 80% infill. Printing temperature used was on the high end of the recommended material range.

Post Processing
The halo mounts were further annealed in an oven using the recommended process for the material to make them even more heat resistance and durable. There is no sanding/finishing requirements for these parts other than any color you may wish to paint them (make sure to use high temp paint, as the headlight housings get quite hot!)
