3D model description

Complete N (1/160) scale model kit: Includes more than 34 different pieces, instruction booklet and templates.

The New London Ledge lighthouse is located standing off on an isolated pier at the entrance of Connecticut's New London Harbour at the east end of Long Island Sound.

The dramatic picture it cast over the waters of the sound and the fact that the lighthouse is allegedly haunted by a ghost named Ernie, undoubtedly make this lighthouse a beautiful icon.

The structure consist of a second Empire red brick 3-story dwelling house with mansard roof topped with an octogonal brick watchroom as a base for a cast iron cylindrical lantern room.

Today, the New London Maritime Society manages the lighthouse. Together with volunteers from the New London Ledge Foundation they do a great work restoring and preserving this outstanding historical heritage

The model was designed using pictures and detailed drawing of the actual building in scale 1/160 (N scale).

You can resize it using your favourite software before print, however, if you do so, some of the parts may lose stability or look overscaled.

Model has 34 different pieces that you need to assembly as any other model kit: I attached an instruction booklet together with the downloaded files. Printing, painting and weathering will give a lot of fun.

Please note that the kit doesn't include STL files to print the pier. Instead of it, I consider better to build it using 1mm thick cardboard or styrene sheet.
Template to cut to size all the pieces needed is provided.
If you have acces to a laser cutter, required SVG file has been included too.

This model can be a great addition to your layout or diorama.

3D printing settings

  • Designed to be printed using SLA
  • L108 X W108 X H142 (mm)
  • The widest part measure 67x67 mm: Check your 3dprinter build volume
  • The kit has 34 different parts: With the download you get both with and without supports.
  • Pieces needed to build the pier are not provided as STL files. I consider easier to get better result using 1mm thick styrene sheet or cardboard cut to size to build it. With the download you get both a template for hand cutting and SVG file for laser cutting.
  • The supported files might not be with the optimal printing orientation but with the optimal orientation according to minimize sanding and provide a perfect fit between parts. However, you can add supports and change orientation according to your methods.
  • The kit part T1 LAMP correspond to the lamp and has to be printed in clear resin.
  • The kit has been designed to allow space for wiring in case you want to lighten with micro LEDs
