3D model description

WORK IN PROGRESS

In 1982, just before they were bought out by Hasbro and had all their ingeniously-devised patents used to make G.I.Joe toys, Palitoy Ltd successfully predicted the Ukraine war.

Children could take turns playing either an elite SAS unit or the faceless, red-clad mobiks of a reclusive communist dictator. They even had the exact same logo as Wagner PMC.

Central to the toy was its realistic portrayal of logistics. Your Red Shadows could keep all the ammo boxes in big piles in the open and risk them being blown up in a drone strike, or they could hide them under the pouffe and risk the other kid liberating them when your mum took you home.

SAFETY WARNING: 3d resin can't really be made suitable for toys that will actually be played with. I at least spray-paint them with PlastiKote but that wears off and resin can still be exposed if the model snaps.

3D printing settings

12/09/2023 - I don't have the official toy to compare so for now the sizes and proportions are all guesswork.

tested - 22/09/2023 - based on ebay photos I've stretched the design as v2 and resized. No geometry problems. The original had a slight hollow at the back - which they used to do to save plastic or make the moulding easier - but I won't copy that.

10/10/2023 - I've adjusted the proportions again based on caliper measurements of an original ammo box - v3
