At GetPrinted3D, we do a LOT of scary horror stuff for Halloween. Today we're switching gears with this super cute Hey, Boo! Halloween sign. Makes a great decoration for your lawn, porch, or haunted house!
There are no special layering techniques required to print this. It comes in Four STL Files. they include:
- Hey Boo - White Background (plain circle with two holes for hanging)
- Hey Boo - Black Outlines (ghosts and spider)
- Hey Boo - White Web (the spiderweb)
- Hey Boo - Orange Boo (the orange Boo! letters)
PRINTING AND ASSEMBLY
All of the STLs are designed to print upside down. They will look especially nice if you have a glass or PEI steel flex bed, or any other plate that prints a nice bottom surface texture. It's also necessary for the word Boo! to print upside down because it has notches to fit precisely in its location. It will help tremendously in lining up all the pieces.
If you prefer the pieces to print right side up, you can rotate the Y 180 degrees on all files except the Orange Boo. It has to print upside down.
Step By Step Assembly
1. To assemble the sign, start with the White Background on bottom. Add the top half of the Black Outlines. It's easy to line up by simply aligning the hanger holes. Glue it in place.
Next, glue the bottom of the Black Outlines across the bottom of the White Background. Try to get it as even as possible compared to the top half. Use a ruler if you need to.
Add the White Spider Web next, look at the photos above to see how it lines up. The bottom web should be close to but not touching the black spider. Make sure it doesn't block the rope holes.
The "B" in Boo! should go on next. It has notches on the back that should slip right over the black lines. Again, look at the photo for alignment.
Now add the letters for "HEY,". These should go just right of the "B", and just below the top section of Black Outlines. Leave room on the right side for the exclamation mark.
Add the "oo!" to finish off the Boo!. these should be easy to align now.
The last pieces to glue are the faces of each ghost. You can glue these however you like - ghost eyes are pretty simple. Two of them have mouths, as well. Look at the photos above for reference.
The final step is to tie a rope through the holes at the top of the sign. You can also use these as nail holes if you prefer, but a nice stringy hemp rope looks great.
DIMENSIONS
The Hey Boo Ghost Sign is sized to fit on a 256x256 print bed, such as the Bambu P1P or P1S. If you have a smaller printer (i.e. 220x220), scale the X and Y of each STL down to about 92% to fit. Leave the Z where it is for strength.
At 100% scale and fully assembled, the sign measures:
X = 22.0cm / 8.7in
Y = 22.0cm / 8.7in
Z = 3.5cm / 0.14
