3D model description

This is a bowden fitting to secure a standard 4mm PTFE tube around a 6mm threaded heatbreak. It utilizes one of those compression fitting things from a standard bowden fitting. OD is 5.5mm.

There are no internal threads on this, it is sized to self-tap itself over the heatbreak. Shrinkage was compensated for 5% (ABS used). There is a lip on the inside where the fitting will lock in place. Mine holds really well.

It is 9mm tall with a 2.5mm deep fitting lip; if your printer is calibrated to a different shrinkage rate, it would be easy to just make your own based on this info.


##Tolerancing

Fitting hole: 5.5mm - (5%) compression tight fit + (5%) shrinkage = ~5.5mm
Heatbreak hole: 6mm - (1%) thread tight fit + (5%) shrinkage = 6.2mm


Disclaimer: YOU NEED TO HAVE A HEATSINK or some type of setup where the heatbreak will not get hot around the fitting.

Standard bowden fittings like the one pictured can have a 6mm male thread which threads into the heatsink. If you are using a non-all-metal heatbreak(s), you need a PTFE tube running all the way down. This printed fitting is useful in this case because unlike the brass fitting, you can have the bowden tube run all the way through.
