3D model description

This is a filament clip for all filament diameters up to 4mm and all spools. It doesn't rely on anything being of any particular size and you have 4 options to adjust tension (more if you get creative). It also doesn't require a precise printer and it will never need to be replaced with frequent or prolonged use once printed.

It has been designed and tested on my 1.75mm filament but I sized it for larger than 3mm filament. It fits well within the side walls of my current filament roll at all 4 tensions (with the weakest tension still holding it steady). I made it to fit within a filament roll of about 3.5cm. It is possible I may need to shrink it for 3mm filament in a smaller roll, or I may need to make an accessory (which I have already thought of) for multi-pronged spool holders.

Hopefully the design doesn't require modification, but if it doesn't work for you please provide feedback and I will adjust as necessary.

How I made it...

This was made in SketchUp after a thought I had today. I was amazed, and extremely happy when the first print worked as well as it did.

How to use it...

Loosen your filament in the spool and put a strand of filament in one channel. Tighten the filament and leave about 5cm between the end of the filament and the clip then Insert the filament into the clip. See screenshots for more detail.
