3D model description

This is a upgrade/modification to Nightfox Swift night vision goggles. These goggles are a great entry level night vision device however I found 2 major issues with them.

Firstly the field of view is very restricted and secondly the 2 IR illumination LEDs are visible to naked eye.

This modification aims to fix both of these issues by adding a 0.45 wide angle lens and a mounting point for better IR illumination. The wide angle lens makes it much easier to use the goggles for navigating in the dark and can be flipped up when not needed to allow for the use of the zoom function on the camera. The mount comes in 2 versions one with a picatinny rail on top and one without.

I have used this night vision device with the mount during a night airsoft game and it performed extremely well considering its very low price.

The mount doesnt require any modification to the NVG device. It holds solid onto the gopro adapter but will require replacing the stock gopro style bolt and nut with a regular M5. I used 2 rubber bands to further secure it and remove any wobble. I might replace this with a clip at later date however the bands are sufficient and wont scratch the device (which was a concern when designing as wasn't sure if I will like it or if I'll want to return it to amazon).

The lens used is a simple clip on style mobile phone wide angle lens as below:

(I would recommend buying a black one but needed one urgently and this one was on same day delivery. )

I recommend an IR torch in the 940NM range like the Nightfox XB5. I am personally working on a custom IR illuminator which will be available separately at some point in the future.

Requires m3 bolts for the swivel and lens clamp.

3D printing settings

Recommend printing the bracket on the side and the lens mount flat. I used just 2 walls and 15% infill to keep weight down.

Will likely reprint bracket with 3 walls and 25% infill for better stability with lights.
