Reed Trumpet Mouthpiece

Similar to the mouthpiece Eddie Harris used and sold. Uses a soprano sax or clarinet reed to play the trumpet. Like any 3D printed mouthpiece, you need to hand finish the table and facing curve for good results. Even then, it takes a lot of practice on the overtone series to get the desired partial.

Eddie used it to add variety to his performances. I think it sounds best, and plays easier, when using a Harmon mute. I have had several brass players with embouchure injuries who adapted to using a reed mouthpiece so they can keep playing for their own enjoyment.

Blanks for 3 tip opening sizes are included. Also 2 cornet shank size ones. I’ll upload a reed trombone version too as a separate posting. You can use soprano sax ligatures and caps or try the ring ligature and cap here. Two ring sizes are included.

The RTM5 (.080" after hand finishing) is near what Eddie used. It is hard to blow and takes a lot of air. But you can use a tonguing articulation with it. The RTM3 (.055") is an easy blow but you probably can only get the note started using your breath. The RTM4 (.068") is in-between. See the table pdf supplied for the facings curve targets.
