3D printing settings

Main body:

To give the stand a heavy feel (and so it won't easily tip over), I recommend printing this with 100% infill but you can use whatever infill % you like. No supports needed.

I recommend 0.2 as the layer height. 0.1 will give you a smoother surface but could be problematic for the curved surface on the bottom of the stand unless you have excellent cooling and a well tuned 3D printer.

If you run into cosmetic issues with the curves on the bottom of the stand, try printing it upside down (hole side down and round curved side up).

Inserts:

The insert is designed so that the tip of the pencil does not rest on its own weight on the bottom of the stand. The tip of the pencil is suspended by design features inside the insert so that it just "hovers" inside the stand.

The inserts should be printed with 0.2 layer height for a snug fit. If you want to swap out the insert for different colors from time to time, scale the insert down a little to make it easier to slide in and take out. Depending on how tuned your 3D printer is, you might need to scale down the insert to make it easier to install.

Increase elephant foot compensation for both the main body and the insert so the first layer isn't too wide.

Align the seams on both parts for a cleaner look.
