This is a mashup of hein's desk clamp and Gridfinity. I replaced the top piece of the clamp with Gridfinity baseplates. I made 2 versions.
The first version is a simple 1U high baseplate with holes for magnets. It is intended to mount directly to the desk as normal but have a Gridfinity top that can sit next to other Gridfinity baseplates. It's a bit thin, so use a strong filament that doesn't bend much and do not use for anything too heavy.
The 2nd version clamps and existing Gridfinity baseplate down the the desk, negating the need for screws or weights, and gives 2 more base squares. This one is 2U high to try to make it a little stronger than the other version, but again don't expect it to perform like steel. V2 of the model attempts to make it slightly thicker at the top joint to reduce flex.
I am including the Blender file I used to aid in further modding.
