3D model description

This design includes:
- 4 different groups of trees with different arrangements and features, each one printable as a single connected free-standing model
- 4 individual trees models (not free standing) which can be positioned, duplicated, scaled, etc to form your own tree unique clusters (for your own personal use only please)
- Resolution is high enough to scale larger than 200mm x 100mm x 190mm for large printers
- Print as many as you want to make huge forests and easily fill up your tabletop!

If you're looking to upgrade your tabletop with highly usable and awesome looking scenery, like trees and woods, well, I've created some models in the past for exactly this purpose and they were popular enough that I decided it was worth redesigning them with better textures and overall aesthetics.

The idea for this terrain piece is to have a line of trees that is deployable as a single model for ease of use, so I made each tree connected to the tree next to it so they form one continuous free standing model. They can provide a simple line of sight blocker, or cover from missile attacks. Also, they just look awesome and help fill up the tabletop with beautiful terrain, especially if you are after a pine, spruce, or fir tree forest environment. I imagine others will find these useful outside of table top games as well.

Unlike my previous pine tree design, I made these with no base for a more natural look, and they are still fairly stable. Furthermore, I made 4 different variations of the tree clusters and they look really good placed next to each other to make continuous lines or blocks of trees so you can finally play out battles on a heavily wooded battlefield with just this collection of trees.

But wait, there's more! I'm also including the individual full resolution individual models of each tree so you can rearrange them and combine them to make your own tree groups. That way, if you have a smaller printer you can also make a cluster of trees that will fit without having to scale the entire thing down. Just keep in mid that the individual trees are NOT free standing and will probably tip over very easily if they are not combined into a large, stable collection.

Finally, if you're looking for some free pine trees to print, check out my earlier pine or fir tree design which is functionally very similar and available at no cost.

3D printing settings

These pine trees models are roughly 200mm x 100mm x 190mm out of the box and use about 150 ml of resin at that size with 1mm walls and 10% infill.

I printed them on a Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4k with Phrozen Rapid Black Water Washable resin in about 12 hours each.

I printed them directly on the build plate with absolutely no supports, which makes for a very easy print. However, I did notice a couple of specks of cured resin stuck to the FEP screen after the print, which is undoubtedly a part of the model which did not stick to the model itself due to the lack of supports. Although this did not result in a build failure or noticeable defect in the prints for me, please make sure to clean your vat well and strain your resin afterward and avoid back to back prints.

I also added holes around the base of each tree to help with suction and added holes on the tips of the trees to allow as much resin to drain from the inside after the print was done.
