3D model description

Hello everyone, I present to you my Siege Dice Tower. The enemy walls will be powerless against the unstoppable march of your dice βš”οΈ

I designed this model in blender and I took inspiration from images depicting real medieval siege towers. I personally sculpted the grain, cracks and imperfections of each wooden beam to give a more authentic look. The design of the tower is very simple, not only to make it easy to print, but also because I wanted it to be suitable for both fantasy and historical board and role-playing games (ancient Rome and Greece, Middle ages and Renaissance).

The model is very easy to print because it does not require supports (except the door). It’s also very easy to assemble even on the gaming table, since, once the wheel pins have been glued, the other pieces will stack smoothly.

The dice tower is mainly made up of four parts:
1) a wheeled base;
2) a square central section;
3) the top of the tower with battlements
4) the movable door.

The overall sizes of the tower are 200 mm high x 100 mm wide by 80 mm long, while those of the singular pieces are:

  • base: 89mm long x 66 mm wide and 55 mm high;
  • central section: 66mm long x 66 mm wide and 55 mm high;
  • top: 73 mm long x 66 mm wide and 60 mm high;
  • door: 65 mm long x 16 mm wide and 67 mm high;
  • beam: 5 mm long x 5 mm wide x 73 mm high;
  • wheel: 30 mm long x 30 mm wide and 6 mm high
  • wheel axle: 6 mm long x 6 mm wide and 13 mm high;
  • wheel block: 8 mm long x 8 mm wide and 2.5 mm high;

To assemble the door, remember to face the side with the two triangular brackets outwards.
To assemble the wheels on the base, remember to glue the wheel axle into the holes, then insert the wheels (without gluing them) and then fix the wheel block on the pin with a little glue. If you don't like or don’t care about the wheels, I've included un alternate version of the base without the wheel holes so the tower sits flat on the table.

Also included in the project are a 6-sided die and two different versions of 20-sided dice with the numbers printed in Gothic font.

The ogre model that you can see in the pictures is by Dutchmogul and you can find it for free on thingiverse at this link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2088357
