Self Opening Present Gift Box

This is a design for a simple but attractive gift / present box which opens itself as the lid is removed (see video). Great for a Christmas, Birthday or other special occasion especially when filled with sweets or similar that will tumble out when the lid comes off and the four sides fall open!

The box requires no fasteners or other hardware, just a little bit of superglue and some short pieces of 1.75mm filament for the four hinge pins (see pictures).

The box includes an attractive 3D printed ribbon around it, the ribbons are printed separately so a nice contrasting colour filament can be used. The side ribbons have pins which locate into small holes in the box sides. This makes it easy to get them located perfectly.

The topper also has a hole in the bottom, a short piece of filament can be glued in here then cut right down to easily ensure the topper is centred on the lid (see pictures).

There are STL files for three options of 3D printed gift label (Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday and a blank version).

When printed and 100% scale the box dimensions are:-
100mm x 100mm at the base
125mm x 125mm at the lid
90mm high

The following parts should be printed to complete the box:-

1x Base
4x Sides
1x Lid
4x Ribbon Side
1x Ribbon Top
1x Topper
1x Choice of label (Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday or blank)

The only parts which I used supports when printing for are the sides (a very small area under each of the hinges) and the topper.
