Description

After years of use I got a hole in my searzall mesh and went looking for replacement screens. They were sold out on amazon and didn't see them for sale on bookeranddax.com. I'm pretty sure they weren't cheap the last time I looked either so I figured I'd make my own.

I cut out circles of steel mesh and pressed one into shape using this jig. The circles are 72-74mm diameter. I could have gone wider with the interior circle as it shrinks when pressed into shape but it still worked fine for this first try.

Mesh was from Aliexpress. 30 Mesh was the size I used but it was finer than the stock one. 20 mesh is probably what Booker and Dax use from the factory. Either way 30 mesh worked great.

There's a 1mm tolerance which is a little tight but it worked and got a nice shape.

I then burned in the mesh with the torch in the event there were any oils or coatings from the factory before using on food.
