Directly from Italy, here you are an easy and space-saving tool for obtaining one (or two) portions of spaghetti to cook. Hold the portioner with one hand, fill the hole with spaghetti and you will get the right portion of pasta ready to be cooked.
In the Mediterranean diet, 80 grams is a portion of spaghetti (after cooking the weight will increase to around 200 grams), after which you will eat meat, vegetables and fruit; However, if you only eat spaghetti (...or if you have a growing teenage child...) double the dose!
How are spaghetti cooked in Italy?
Put a pan filled with plenty of water (at least one liter for each portion of pasta) on the stove and wait for it to boil. At this point add the salt and the pasta (it would be better without breaking the spaghetti).
now you can continue in two ways:
The easy way is to let pasta boil for the time indicated on the package (usually 8 to 12 minutes depending of the spaghetti type). Then turn off the stove, drain the pasta, add yourfavorite sauce (hot) and... enjoy your meal!
The traditional way requires some additional work but it's worth it because the taste becomes better: when cooking reaches about three quarters of the time, drain the spaghetti and put them in a pan together with the sauce and half a glass of the drained water. Continue cooking over low heat, taking care to always mix the pasta. Once the time is up, put it directly on the plate and you will feel the difference!
