These supports are designed for portable droplet barriers such as those used in classrooms.

This is a redesign of the “Portable Droplet Barrier Supports” set found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4625008.

This redesign is intended to address the design flaw with the hinged barriers that are on the market (but shouldn’t be). The hinged flaps prevent the barrier from falling one direction, but the barrier falls over easily the other direction. Not good.

This design is specifically for 4.3mm thick (11/64”) plexiglass, but you can add some layers of tape to thinner plexiglass and it will work well. The supports fit inside of a 4” transaction pass-through as pictured. Use glue for permanent installation.

You’ll need to print two “Plexiglass Holders” four “Braces,” and two or more of the “Wing Supports.” Print the “Plexiglass Holders” in the upright position, avoid using brim if you can.

The “braces” slide into the slots in both sides of the two “Plexiglass Holders.” I recommend printing the braces on their side as they are provided. Printing them in this orientation will result in a stronger print than printing upright and they will also be easier to slide in and out. The downside is that you’ll need to use some brim to ensure that the thin edge of the insert piece is held in place for the first part of the print. You’ll also have to do some post-print filing to remove all the brim so that it slides smoothly into the groove on the “Plexiglass Holder”.

I recommend adding some non-slip adhesive bumpers to the bottom of the braces.
