Description

I was unable to locate universal wall mount brackets for these Kobalt Mini toolbox's, which are absolutely perfect for 3d printer spare parts and accessory storage, the top bay particularly fits my A1 and A1 mini nozzles perfectly. So I remixed the HSW wallmounts to be universal accepting #8 screws.

Materials Needed to Mount:

For mounting all you need is (4-6) #8 or #9 or #10 screws, 1" - 1.5" length and drill bits to drill the pilot holes for the screws. Be sure not to over tighten or else the PETG will crack. I highly recommend using #8 cabinet screws, as they do a much better job distributing pressure without cracking PETG.

Update 6-2-2024:

  • As Promised, 16mm wall spacer brackets profile added, which allow for the lid to open to the full 90 degree angle without contacting the wall behind it. 2" length screws recommended for spacer brackets.

Mounting Orientation:

Brackets screw holes should be spaces 10 6/16ths of an inch apart or 264.5mm apart.

Note: The top door only has enough space to open 45°, which is plenty of space to remove items from the thin top tray. For full lid opening print the 16mm wall spacer profile.

Print Profile Notes:

Nozzle: Suggest 0.4mm nozzle for precision fit
Wall Loops: 4 wall loops on 0.4mm nozzle, 0.6mm nozzle not recommended due to decreased layer adhesion.
Layer Height: Suggest 0.16 or 0.20mm to maximize strength (0.20mm default)
Infill: 25% gyroid
Brim: Printable successfully with no brim, 3mm brim is default setting to reduce lifting.
Batch Size: For optimum layer adhesion advise printing one part at a time to keep layers hot (2 parts tops). For batches of 2 reduce fan cooling. PETG performs worse if layers cool too much, and you risk a layer shift on bed-slingers like A1.
Material: PETG or ABS/ASA (scale uniform by 100.7% for asa/abs)
Color: Any, Example was printed in Hatchbox Blue PETG
Print Orientation: Print horizontally with hex grid facing the bottom as seen in .3mf file.
Supports: None needed, but if you would like to use them print with a low threshold angle (6 degree) snug supports.
3d Printers: Should be printable on any printer.
Filament amount required: 68.9g per bracket
