3D model description

Purchased a Bambu Labs A1 with the AMS Lite unit for my father. He has, and gets great enjoyment from FDM 3D Printing. The only issue is that he found it hard to remove and fit the filament reels to the AMS Lite unit. As He lives in a fairly humid environment, and he does not do a great deal of printing, continuously, and found the need to have the AMS Lite unit fully enclosed so that he did not did to remove the reels and place them in sealed bags, to stop moisture get into the reels of PLA filament. The design is totally mine, not copied from any other design, so it is my creation. I hope you find it useful, as much as my father has. The humidity inside the unit after 24 hours can get down to 15% but normally sits around 20%. This is compared to 60% humidity with in the room that the A1 resides in.

3D printing settings

I printed all the parts at 0.2mm layer height. I found that all the side print best with support, as the supports do pull out very easy. Each part of the enclosure frame, has two 1.8mm holes either end. These holes are used with a 45mm Long piece of filament. This helps to keep all parts aligned. After a test fit of all parts, I did use ZAP-A-GAP Medium CA+ glue for all the parts, except the Lid, of course. You will need 76off lengths of 45mm long pieces of filament, for the enclosure. The Lid has a 3mm cup valley in it, this cutout is for a 3mm diameter Rubber Seal that is approx 1700mm in total length. The rubber seal can be glued in place on the top of the four side walls. This help keep it in place while you fit and screw down the sealing lid. The lid has a total of 18off x M3 x 15mm long screws, with M3 hex nuts. First press fit the nut up from the bottom of the top side rails. Then you can screw down through the Lid screw holes and into these nuts. You will require 8off of the PC4-M10 Male Straight Pneumatic PTFE Tube Push in Quick Fitting Connector. Best to find place local to yourself for these. These connectors will screw into the printed tapped block that is installed on the left top side of the enclosure. It only requires sliding into position as the top right rail holds it in place. At the rear of the enclosure you will find a cutout this is for the interface cable of the AMS Lite unit. There are 4 parts to retain this cable and use 4off M3 x 15mm screws and M3 nuts to retain the assembly. There are two drying crystal chambers at the bottom, I use DampFree moisture absorber crystals, or use soemthing available to this purpose in your location. I can tell you Kitty Litter crystals works fine as well. The only other ting you will require are four additional length a bowden tube, for inside the AMS Lite unit.
