Description

Here we have my first venture into what they call an “F” Clamp.

This is obviously only to clamp together small things together say when gluing etc.

I've designed the model in 5 pieces with the rail having notches to assist when gripping and a nodule at the end to keep the sliding jaw on the rail.

Not part of the design but the way this clamp works is to put whatever you want to grip between the Jaws and squeeze the 2 jaws together from the bottom of the rail, this grips the part without screwing the turn knob and will be useful for holding small components together, or the other way is to use the clamp the conventional way, I found that the best way is to have the screw knob facing up, squeeze the 2 Jaws together on the component and then tighten the screw as needed remembering that this a PLA clamp.

Make of it what you will, it works for me if used as described.

To put the components together, the slider should be pushed onto the rail in the correct orientation and ensure the notches and nodule are facing inwards, then apply some epoxy or CA Glue and push the end piece in place and let it dry, then screw in the screw drive and fit the gripper to the end of the screw with a 5mm Low profile Allen Bolt 15/20mm in Length and that's it.

I've clamped it to the side of the TV Cabinet with 2 sets of Head phones and it held in place ok.

So there you have it, a light use “F” Clamp, fun to design, the first prototype didn't work at all but I got there in the end sort of.

Thanks for Looking.

ps: Makes a great fidget toy too:)
