Store ALL cards(sleeved*), tokens, tiles, dice, and acrylic cubes from ALL existing expansions (base game + tower, fortress, rampart, inferno, battlefield) in a single small base game box. Basically every playable item except miniatures. There are other inserts for miniatures.
Speed-up game setup.
Keep the play area clean from the token and card clutter. It may be even cleaner with a player dashboard
Make those pesky big box edition owners jealous!
Changelog
28-04-2024
Enlarged card inserts to fit sleeved cards up to 91,3mm x 66,8mm
Added a new version of faction-cube-and-token-tray with individual lids for each slot
30-03-2024
Added cutouts in map-tile-tray-right and map-tile-tray-left for easier access to map tiles
spell-ability-artifact-machine-cards-tray Triple tray to store three core decks of this game: spells, abilities, and artifacts. It has a side pocket for storing wall cards and war machines added in the Rampart Expansion. This tray can be placed on the table and used during the game. Owners of big box editions can print and use it as well
astrologers-proclaim-and-event-cards-tray Dual card tray for “astrologers proclaim” and event cards added in the Fortress Expansion. Also can be used on the table and designed to be stackable on top of the above tray
neutral-units-bronze(silver/gold/azure)-cards-tray Four small single-deck card trays for each grade of neutral units. Place those trays near your battlefield for easy battle setup.
map-tile-tray-left(right) Two twin trays to store map tiles, tokens, and other cards that do not require frequent quick access during the game (unused hero specialty cards, unused faction units, statistic cards, etc)
town-heroes-tiles-tray Big tray for town and hero tiles.
faction-cube-and-token-tray Narrow tray with 7 cells. Allows to place each faction cube set (20 colored cubes for each faction) together with build, recruit, and spellbook town tokens in each cell.
(optional) resource-morale-token-tray and small-multipurpose-tray Two small trays for resource tokens and other miscellaneous items that you may have on your table. Those trays are optional and might not be needed if you play with the player dashboard. Those trays have the same size and you can place two of them in your box. You can choose one variant and print it two times.
Printing recommendations
The model geometry is optimized for FDM printing with a 0,4mm nozzle and 0,2mm layer height.
Supports are not required at all
Verify that your printer and filament can print within 0,2mm tolerance
Use any material
It can be printed with 0 bottom/top shell layers,40% triangles sparse infill, and 4 wall loops
Add a 10mm brim to prevent corners from lifting
Notes
91,3mm x 66,8mm is the maximum size of the card sleeve that will fit
You will need about 600g of filament to print this insert
This insert handles all ~700 cards in sleeves, but you must do some distribution gymnastics to store some decks. I distribute battlefield expansion cards and AI cards in multiple different card slots. But you know best how you want to play your game and can do it differently.
The box will close ideally flush only without rule/scenario books and battlefield. You can still store those in the same box, but you should accept that the box lid will be 1-2cm above the bottom. Alternatively, you can store all scenario books and battlefields in the Battlefield Expansion box which I actually did.
Hi! A quick question. I used steel armour premimum 66x91mm sleeves (standard size) for my cards. They fit nicely on the original box inserts, but I was wondering if they would fit on the space allocated for decks on your design.
Thanks for the hard work and your time!
I've printed this box, and realized the sleeved cards don't fit at all :( I'm using Arcane Tinmen Standard (80um). Is there something that can be done...?
Can you describe what is the problem that you are facing with current design?
I have never had any issues with anything falling out in transport or during game setup. During game setup, just cover unused faction item slots with your hand and only necessary stuff will fall out.
In fact, it's all about transport and not losing elements. I usually use covers to avoid surprises. This is what I have for MageKnight, given the quantity of material.
I'm so pleased with your work that I offered you a beer, and I hope the rest of the community will congratulate you too. Well done for all your hard work.
love you for the insert! it's amazing to have the whole game in one box!
thank you for it :)
one idea, maybe you will be able to fulfill another dream. could you make another box just for the heroes from all faction? or maybe just for the add-ons heroes, the base game heroes already have a good insert that it's easy to cary.
Replied regarding map tiles. On A1 mini you can print https://makerworld.com/en/models/476304 . I don't know how to make insert for 192x140 town boards on A1 mini.
I can make mini version of https://makerworld.com/en/models/481457 for storing hero tiles and other faction items
Wow! Awesome work! One little question though: Can you tell if it will possibly also fit the Stronghold expansion when it comes out? Assuming they will not bring a new type of cards to the game, i think it will again be 4 far, 2 near and 1 start map tiles and of corse some unit and some might and magic cards. Alternatively, do you think there is enough clearance to store the heroes and faction unit cards inside their respective miniature storage inserts (from dimensions i already ruled out the city boards) to make some room?
Thanks for your time in advance.
Thanks :) The current insert is designed to fit only what exists. So upcoming expansions will not fit into the current model.
But I plan to modify (or maybe come up with a completely different layout) as soon as the content of new expansions is revealed. Don't want to make any modifications based on assumptions.
Miniature inserts are not designed for cards, because all existing cards fit into the current Small Box model.
