This set of files are used for building the mold for making a carbon fiber keel for a one-meter sailboat.

There is a full keel mold half STL file to use and modify for any format printing as you like.

There are two split mold half STLs that are ready to print.  They include a breakaway bracing that is designed to keep the tall model stable as it prints.  These files will fit most filament printers with a 225mm Z-height.

There is a keel fin STL for making your own mold.

There is keel fin head mold that will allow you remold the head of your own fin to fit the Alioth IOM external keel insert.

Only half models are provided.  Flip the model in your slicer for the other half.

There are cut patterns for the carbon fabric for the outer skin and inner reinforcements.  The PDF contains full-size drawings and you will have to piece together patterns if using a regular sized printer.

There is an instruction PDF provided, but it is just a guide.  The full instructions for printing and using the molds are in my build thread on RCgroups.com.  It is an involved build, not something you are going to do in an hour. The instructions are detailed and long, be prepared!  You can see the entire development of this project and everything you need to make your own.

The result is pretty decent keel that you can go racing with and further customize to get the weight and strength you need.

This project is under constant development, but this file set is verified to produce a quality keel fin.

These files and the development are my own, but the fin is designed to be compatible with the Alioth 3D-printed IOM and is modeled after the keel fin that is sold and produced by RC Sailinglab.  I have the written permission of the Alioth designer to release these "Alioth-compatible" files.  You should check out https://rcsailinglab.com for the boat STLs and the very active Alioth FB group.
