Description

What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world

In essence, it's a worldwide treasure hunt. Containers range from the size of your fingernail to the size of a caravan. Inside you'll find a piece of paper to sign and sometimes you'll find goodies to trade.

Why remix into a Geocache?

Since getting a 3D printer, I've discovered how well it complaments other hobbies such as Geocaching. I've been learning little by little how to use Tinkercad, and have been making geocaches out of other's creations! Hopefully by putting these geocaches out into the wild for others to find, it'll attract more people to the 3D printing community too!

Most of the time people find caches made from tupperware or nano caches (tiny magnetic annoying things), and love finding something a bit different.

On all of my geocache listings, I have included some brief information about 3D printing.

Info about this model
Using Tinkercad I took the original brick design and made it solid, then I used the remixed screw lid plug to hollow up a section of the brick. The space within is big enough to house a pill container to hold the geocache log and keep it dry.

Lessons Learned

I printed this brick flat with supports in the screw hole area which was a big mistake as it was incredibly hard to remove the supports cleanly. My intention was to use this brick with one of the larger plugs I had created in a previous model to stop it going to waste, but I can't get the screw clean enough to fit it in so had to resort to using a smaller lid again. Next time i'd print this vertically and add supports differently.
