Description

What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world

In essence, it's a worldwide treasure hunt. Containers range from the size of your fingernail to the size of a caravan. Inside you'll find a piece of paper to sign and sometimes you'll find goodies to trade.

Why remix into a Geocache?

Since getting a 3D printer, I've discovered how well it complaments other hobbies such as Geocaching. I've been learning little by little how to use Tinkercad, and have been making geocaches out of other's creations! Hopefully by putting these geocaches out into the wild for others to find, it'll attract more people to the 3D printing community too!

Most of the time people find caches made from tupperware or nano caches (tiny magnetic annoying things), and love finding something a bit different.

On all of my geocache listings, I have included some brief information about 3D printing.

Info about this model

Here we have the brick leaf turned into a geocache, with a remixed version of the lid I found on Tinkercad. The lid and space within the leaf can fit a pill container to keep the log inside perfectly dry. I plan to spray paint this green and will upload more photos once done!

Lessons Learned

On making this one I learned that you shouldn't have a plug that 100% matches the hole, or it'll get stuck! I had to boil the model and plug in warm water for a few minutes to pull them apart again before reprinting a slightly smaller screw plug. The plug's wont go to waste though as I'll use them on a future creation with a slightly bigger hole placed inside.
