Don't want to throw your filament purge away? Don't want to recycle your purge it into art? Don't need to print another toy to play with your purge?

Why not turn your waste into tools to help with Mathematics/Stem education!

The idea of these cubes is not to print them alone (but you can if you want) but to use to flush into when producing multicolour prints. Once they are printed donate them to your local school, I am sure they will love them!

To Use:

Step 0: Either download the beta verison of Bambu Studio and follow the steps to enable filament pull back or use Leon Fisher-Skipper's Profile. Reducing purge amounts is even better than repurposing them!!

1. Once you have your object that you want in colour on your build plate inset a pile of cubes that roughly match the height of your print.

2. Paint supports underneath the cube pegs, turn on supports and set type to ‘Tree (Manual)’

3. Go to Process, Objects, Select the Cube, Others and select ‘flush to object’ and ‘flush to object infill’

4. Set Thick Bridges to ‘On’

5. Change bridge speed to ‘25’ (this isn't technically needed, but it should increase the cleanliness of your bridges.

6. Slice the file with 'Preview' and have a look at the ‘Flush’ value, it will have decreased (Note: you can ignore any warnings, these only occur because there is a gap to allow the blocks to be stacked)

7. Right click and Clone the Cubes, everyone you add will decrease the purge value (Note: you will see some increase in the total filament used, only keep adding cubes to the point that you are comfortable to use)

8. There is no perfect way to predict the optimal amount of cubes to use, but any use wil decrease the wasted purge amounts.
