3D model description

Print Details

  • All pieces were designed to be printed on a Creality Ender 3 Pro or larger. (Minimum Bed Size: 220 x 220 x 250mm / 8.6 x 8.6 x 9.8 inches)
  • Each letter is made up of two pieces, a base and transparent insert that the LEDs shine through
  • Base pieces also have a clear insert to make the underline
  • Very large pieces (Ex. Letter "A" Base) require the boundary area to be removed in Cura such that the full Ender 3 bed can be used. Here a helpful tutorial
  • Two connecting blocks are used inside the bases to glue letters together
  • Concentric holes between base and letter base serve as a glue point and wire routing space
  • Holes are included on the back of the base pieces which can be used for wall mounting

  • Printed using PLA
  • Letters and Base Pieces - 20% Infill
    • Supports: Base Pieces only - Set to touching build plate
  • All Letter and Plate Inserts - 100% Infill (100% was best for light dispersion when using transparent filament)

Assembly Tips

  • Pieces were glued together using J-B ClearWeld Glue for Plastics
    • Recommended not to glue transparent letter insert in letter that holds the LED controller in case it needs replaced
  • 50ft of LED lights were used (could be done with less).
    • If the plastic housing is removed from the LED controller the PCB fits in the right-most letter "U" perfectly.
  • Double-sided tape was used to hold lights inside letters
