3D model description

*** THIS IS A PROJECT IN WORK ***

This is a lift design using some of the parts from the user mascal's lift system, altered to bolt to the dome top i modified for mr baddeley's r2d2 model. Uses dowel rods as slide rods and a threaded screw to lift the devices, the core system works fine, still tweaking the lifts for the periscope and light saber, will update those as i complete them, the life scanner works as i didnt need to modify that from mascal's designs.

print the top and bottom of the lift with supports to keep the dowel rod holes clear, i suggest solid PLA+, PETG, or ABS for the screws for strength as i easily snapped one in plain PLA.

lift template.stl - make your own lift design using this and the core lift system!

lightsaber lift.stl - should be working, made it modular and included 3 sabers to swap out

(included the periscope and life scanner i used to keep you from hunting them down, periscope is parts from 3 different releases, print the lenses in something clear, i use the pie piece from the r2 dome files from mr baddeley. the life scanner i believe was made by mascal, i did make a servo adapter for it to sit on the server a little better).

you will want 6 dowel rod sliders, screw the bottom to the dowel ends, i put in the screws and then the top, you can screw the top to the dowel rods as well. i used a thin circle of craft foam between the lift top and the dome to help prevent sliding, you could glue it in as well, but i was trying to keep my design as modular as possible. would be interested to see what others come up with to work with this system!

  • Added a low profile saber lift as the tube on my build was snagging on the dome and/or the hinge system i used preventing the saber to lift fully, the lower profile should allow more saber to show and use less filament! might need to edit the next section on the sabers to account for the height change. i'll post those as i get them done.

*I think i got everyone in the credits, if i forgot anyone it wasn't on purpose!
