Description

TL;DR

A very hugh strong garden planter, 20cm wide, 20cm height, 6 liter made from PETG.

Collection

tools, garden

Motivation

My wife needed some unique planters for her mango experiments.
And i liked to play with the lattice2 workbench in Freecad.

Let's get started

For Freecad users have a look at the lattice2 workbench, while there is nearly no documentation since this wb was written in 2016 this is has awesome super powers.

This planters are not light weight weak vase mode covers they are real planters the substrate gets directly into this planters.

To vase or not to Vase?

While this model is made to be printed as a strong container you could for sure, print it in vase mode to get the nice pattern effect and use the so printed planter as a decorative “Übertopf”.

If you like to have the drain system of the strong variant, you can do that in vase mode by increasing the number of bottom layers up to 6.5mm - that includes the whole draining system to the vase mode version.

In vase mode the print needs less filament and prints much faster.

Filament used

extrudr PETG needed a color change because the spool ends.
Printed with 0.6 mm nozzle and a layer height of 0.45 mm.

Still amazed how good the 0.45 mm draft mode for strong functional parts like this is.
