first prototype for a screw on ring adaptor for Inland spools without modification to the cardboard spool. meant to help when using cardboard Inland spool in the Bambu AMS. the adaptor will screw together through the existing hole in the cardboard spool

I couldn't get this to actually screw together even with trying to shrink the male screw center in the freezer, and lubricating with silicone grease. Am I doing something wrong?

im not sure what the issue could be. i designed the threads wide set to minimise the number of turns needed and reduce the need for precision, but maybe try printing it with a smaller layer size? (>0.18) . i do know you still have to line it up just so. i put mine on by running backwards until i feel it "fall" in... then i start turning it the correct way.

Do you tear off the sides of the cardboard spool first? Ive tried the rings that some say work but i cannot close my ams lid otherwise the rings sandwich in the lid. Does this work with the lid fully closed?

it works without modifying the spool, but the lid needs to be propped up
