3D model description

I needed a mount for an extra 3.5" HDD in my system (that was already full of drives), and as it was a high speed drive it was getting pretty hot (generally >10Β°C hotter than the rest of the drives).

So my solution is this, a mount/adaptor for an optical drive bay, that holds a 40mm fan and the 3.5" HDD.

I printed mine with the front face down so I got a glossy finish (I have a glass bed). Then the holes for the HDD I cleaned up with a 3.5mm drill bit. The rest of the holes I used the standard M3 screws to tap the thread (and hold things in place).

I connected the fan to the 5v (not 12v) rail to keep the noise down. It's not moving super fast, but it keeps the drive a lot cooler (for now at least).

I have also included my source file, which is using "SolidPython" to generate OpenSCAD files should you wish to adjust things for your requirements.
