Description

Update 2024-01-03: Added 5.5mm versions (big handle)

Update 2024-01-02: Added 1.25mm, 3.5mm and 4.5mm versions (small handle)

After a lot of work, here is my Ultimate T-Handle Hex Key set, designed in 9 common sizes (1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm and 10mm)

Print in place, no glue required, handles knurling gives a nice feeling in the hand.

It's made to be tight, to avoid the key to move, it should be easy to assemble, but if it is a little hard to screw (example with coated keys, which is a little bigger), a drop of grease or oil on the thread could help.

There is 2 handle sizes : One small for allen key from 1.5mm to 4mm and a large for 5mm to 10mm

Give your feedback and post your makes, enjoy!

PS : Feel free to ask other sizes

These work great. Printed with no mods and the fit the allen keys very well. Would like to know if you would be able to do a 1.27, 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 to finish off my full set of wrenches. :)

Sure, no problem, I made a parametric model so I can make any size easily, but I do not have those sizes, so I can't test. would you be a beta tester to confirm it fits well ? 😉

Realy great! Was the fit with allen keys correct ?

Yes it was! the smaller Alen keys were a bit difficult to get thru the bottom cap, but once I did, it wasn’t bad!

Absolutely love the design. Print was perfect. Snug fit that required some grinding to line up the numbers perfect. As you have a parametric design, have you ever thought of making a version for Torx? I‘d love to have one for my T10 - T50 set. Thank you.

I have no torx set so I can't measure, however I think, unless allen keys, all the brand are not the same size ?

I don’t know, if there are standardized dimensions. I have the set from S&R and the key have the following dimensions: T10 - 3mm T15 - 3,5 mm T20 - 4mm T25 - 4,5mm T30 - 6mm T40 - 7mm T45 - 8mm T50 - 9mm It would be great if you can add the models for those.

could you test if it works with the corresponding allen handles ? ex: does the T20 works with the 4mm handle ?

Snug fit, love the layout of the plates, printed the handles all one color just for a quicker print, and had the number be a different color.

found i had to scale up all the outer parts to 102% as they wouldnt screw on at normal scale, they were too tight

Hi, did you print in PLA ? also, is it too tight with or without the allen key in place ? And is the alen key secured (doesn't move) with caps at 102% ? Thanks for your feedback ;)

was too tight with the allen key in place. 102% they are nice and snug and the key doesnt move

I have been experimenting with printing in ABS and here are some tips for others. 1. The piece that holds the Allen key, turn off adaptive layer height. At 0.20mm, the adaptive layer height will create artifacts/holes in the center T holder. I'm guessing not enough material but I really don't know. But turning it off results in a great print. 2. The screws themselves should be increased in size. For 4mm screw caps, I selected all three caps and increased the X axes to 101%, with uniform scale. This makes the caps just a pleasure to screw on/off. 4mm cap final size: X: 46.46mm, Y: 42.98mm, Z: 32.32mm. 5/5 model, otherwise. The ABS adjustments are pretty necessary for any model.

prints great. I had to add a brim layer as it tipped over on my in the middle of the print after the color change
