This is where First Blood-the first film in the saga-begins the story.
First Blood
Rambo has returned to civilian life, but finds trouble reintegrating into society, so he wanders around the United States. Additionally, he cannot find his superior and his other war comrade has died, which makes everything even more difficult for him. Finally, arriving in a town called Hope (a symbolic name that means "Hope", although the place is real), in Washington state, Rambo runs into Sheriff Teasle (in the novel he is a veteran of the Korean War). John James Rambo (Bowie, Arizona, United States, July 6, 1947) is the title character in the Rambo saga, based on the novel First Blood by David Morrell, starring Sylvester Stallone, in which he plays a Green Beret Vietnam War veteran highly trained in survival techniques, hand-to-hand combat and guerrilla warfare.
Biography
John James Rambo was born on July 6, 1947 in Bowie, Arizona, United States, of German-Indian descent. He graduated from Rangeford High School and then enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19, on June 7, 1966.
He was deployed to South Vietnam in September 1966. He began Special Forces (Green Berets) training, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1968. At some point he receives helicopter and tank flight training.
In late 1969, Rambo was again deployed to Vietnam. In November 1971, he was captured by North Vietnamese forces near the Sino-Vietnamese border and is taken to a prisoner-of-war camp. Rambo escaped from the site in May 1972, but was later redeployed to take revenge. He returned to the United States in 1973. Of his combat unit only he, one other and his superior Trautman survived the war.
Upon his return to the United States, Rambo painfully discovered that many American civilians hated the return of the soldiers, calling him a "murderer," due to the fact that at that time the war was already becoming very unpopular in the country and the rest of the world. This is where First Blood - the first film in the saga - begins the story.

After an altercation with the sheriff, Rambo is arrested. While in the brig, Rambo is mistreated multiple times, which causes him to recall vivid scenes from his captivity as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, a product of post-traumatic stress disorder. As a result, Rambo panics when they want to shave him dry and attacks the guards. He then escapes from prison and flees into the woods, where he applies his survival tactics and guerrilla warfare to survive and remain on the run.
